24 Jan 2017, a year marked by solidarity in Goldcar once again
40% of the workforce has participated as a volunteer in causes and solidarity projects
Goldcar, a market leader in the holiday vehicle rental market, has developed different ideas throughout 2017 to help and collaborate with the most needy and protect the environment. For this, it has enjoyed the participation of 40% of its staff, who have been voluntarily devoting their time, skills and talent to causes, projects and non-profit organisations, demonstrating a high level of awareness and reaffirming the commitment of the organisation with these type of projects.
Goldcar, through social action programs, promotes the integration of groups at risk of social exclusion. Notably, the collaboration with CIBE stands out, a Spanish Red Cross project that deals with people with addictive disorders who fight for social reintegration from the social, educational, health and psychological aspects. In order to help cover some of these people’s basic needs, the company launched an initiative to collect uniforms and managed to donate 304 totally new items to the Red Cross to assist this group.
Another example of social action has been the “Donando Vida con Goldcar” project where the company once again demonstrated its solidarity by organizing a day of blood donation among employees, and the collection of personal hygiene products to help low income families to prepare for the return to school.
In addition, this year Goldcar has once again participated in the Solidarity Day, We Are One! Held at the Real Club Deportivo Espanyol Stadium (RCDE). The initiative consisted of a solidarity football tournament and a charity dinner with live dance and music performances. The event was organised by the Invest for Children Foundation and in collaboration with the Obra Social Sant Joan de Déu and the Damm Foundation, who sought to raise funds for the development of social actions for children with Downs syndrome and the protection of socially vulnerable groups .
The protection of the environment is another priority for Goldcar and, a sign of their commitment, has been the collaboration with the municipality of San Juan with its reforestation plan for the city. Goldcar organised a volunteers to help plant 120 species that, according to the plans of the San Juan City Hall, will help turn an empty wasteland into a future natural space for families who want to surround themselves with green trees.
According to Tonica Safont, Director of Human Resources and Customer Service of Goldcar, “we are very proud of the enthusiasm, participation and commitment of Goldcar employees during 2017. Thanks to all these projects we have been able, between us all, who are part of this company, to promote the inclusion of the most disadvantaged groups and create environmental awareness. Together we are building a better society.”
In the framework of promoting employee value, the company celebrated Children’s Day at Work, an event that welcomed 40 children from the staff parents. Through different activities and workshops, the children were able to learn, in a playful way, the activity that their parents carry out within the company.
Goldcar is aware that its greatest asset is its people and therefore fosters a good work environment. With this premise they celebrated the Day of Fun at Work, enjoying the holding of a Pit Stop competition, a fun experience that saw a great deal of participants having a go.
