Goldcar, a market leading company in holiday car hire, finished last year 2017 with an increase in its workforce of 28%, up to 1,200 employees. The growth of its activity, international expansion and its orientation towards innovation as a strategic pillar have had a strong impact on the increase of its workforce.
As explained Tonica Safont, Director of Human Resources and Customer Service: “Our commitment to place the company at the technological forefront of the rent-a-car sector has led us to strengthen the team with high-level profiles, oriented to digitalisation, capable of developing new projects with high added value for the connected traveler”.
Regarding the number of clients, 2017 closed with an increase of 20% over the previous year. The average duration of a rental service by travellers who chose Goldcar was 7.7 days, a fact that confirms that the Company continues to be the preferred option for the holiday rental of vehicles.
Among the destinations that registered the highest demand by Goldcar customers in 2017, Palma de Mallorca was at the top, above Malaga and Alicante.
Throughout last year, the company continued with its international expansion by adding 12 new branches to its network – 10 of its own and 2 under franchise – either to expand its presence in markets such as Portugal, France, Spain, or to establish itself in new countries like Turkey, Serbia and Iceland. In total, Goldcar operates in 16 markets, with France Croatia and Italy dominating where the company recorded the highest growth in 2017.
Among the vehicles most requested by Goldcar customers in 2017 were the most economical priced utilities – compact and subcompact. For its part, all-terrain vehicles and the medium SUV type experienced a significant increase, another favourite for tourists who decided to rent with Goldcar. By 2018, the company plans to increase the number of this type of vehicle by 19%, in line with its growing demand.
In total, the company expects a peak fleet of around 62,000 vehicles, lowering the average age of these from 9 to 8 months old. All new models of economic cars (type BB / CC) will be available in the Goldcar offer.
Plans for 2018
As for the company’s plans for the current year, Goldcar intends to innovate in 2018 with a double objective: to continue focusing its efforts on international expansion and quality improvement through innovative services that will be unique in the sector.
To do this the company will continue with the development of Keyn’Go, an intelligent key dispenser that allows the user to pick up and deliver the vehicle keys by showing a QR code to the reader of the machine, without having to go through the office. Throughout 2017, close to 23,000 customers benefited from this service, operating in 24 Goldcar offices in Spain, Italy and Portugal. Another inniative will be the new version of the Click’n Go digital rental system, which will be available in a greater number of destinations.
